This little beauty is cast in modern Ductile Iron (80,000 psi Tensile strength) as a solid piece. Designed for a true static display. Any bore would have to be done by the customer; 50 caliber, up to 1″ bore.
Note in the following pictures, the 1/3 scale British Light Six is shown along side the 1/4 scale Parrott and the Rat Tail Swivel Gun. In this picture, the 1/3 scale British Light Six is showing its true to scale Trunnions; just under 7/8″ diameter & 4-5/8 over all length. One of the changes we are making during the pattern setup will be to increase this diameter to 1″ and the overall length to 5-5/8″. This will match the dimensions of the 1/4 scale Parrott, and allow us to create a common Cap Square for mounting to a carriage that could fit either barrel. Our thought is that a purist could reduce them back to true scale, but that for the convenience of a common mounting it would be much more difficult to add structural materiel. Plus, the load rating of the wood carriage does not scale down in the same ways the iron barrel will; the extra length of trunnions will allow a stronger carriage.
